What Is a Night Doula?

A night doula — sometimes called an overnight doula or newborn care specialist — is a trained postpartum professional who comes to your home during the nighttime hours (typically 10 pm–6 am) to care for your newborn while you sleep.

Unlike a babysitter or night nurse, a night doula brings specialized knowledge in newborn feeding, infant soothing, sleep guidance, and postpartum recovery. At Babies & Beyond Doulas, our Raleigh-based overnight doulas are trained through ProDoula and other agencies and have supported hundreds of Triangle families since 2010.

Absolutely — many of our clients are breastfeeding. Your doula will bring your baby to you for feeds, help with latch, and handle all the settling and diaper changes around the nursing session so you can go right back to sleep. If you're pumping, your doula can manage bottles overnight. We tailor our care entirely around your feeding plan.
