Using Your Carrot Fertility Benefit for Overnight Newborn Care
If your employer offers Carrot Fertility, there is a good chance you already have money set aside for a postpartum doula. That includes overnight care, and we would love to help you use it.
What is Carrot Fertility?
Carrot is a family benefit that some companies offer their employees alongside regular health insurance. Think of it as a fund your employer sets aside for the whole journey to parenthood.
Depending on the plan, that money can go toward fertility treatment and IVF, egg and sperm freezing, adoption, surrogacy, prenatal care, and postpartum support.
That last one is why you are here. Postpartum doula care counts under many Carrot plans, and it is one of the most rewarding ways to spend the benefit.
Does Carrot cover overnight care?
Often, yes. Overnight hours qualify the same way daytime visits do under most plans that include doula support.
Every employer designs its own plan, though, so your coverage is worth confirming before you book. A quick look at your Carrot account will tell you.
Three things to check
Log in to your Carrot account and look for:
- Whether postpartum doula care is covered. Some plans list birth doula and postpartum doula separately, so check for the postpartum line.
- Your dollar amount. Funding varies quite a bit between employers, and many families are pleasantly surprised.
- Your deadline. Plans often reimburse only through about six weeks after birth, so this is the one to find first.
If anything in the guide is unclear, your HR contact can usually sort it out quickly.
How it works with us
You hire us directly and pay us, then submit our invoice to Carrot for reimbursement. Carrot does not bill like an insurer, which actually makes things simpler on your end.
We itemize invoices the way Carrot likes them, with dates, hours, rates, and services listed out, so your claim moves through without a hitch.
Carrot has its own credentialing requirements for doulas, and not every doula carries the same certifications. When you book with Carrot, we match you with someone on our team who meets them, so just mention Carrot when you reach out and we will take it from there.
What you get overnight
A doula arrives in the evening and stays eight to ten hours. She handles feedings, diapers, and soothing, and brings the baby to you if you are nursing. You sleep.
Some families call this a night nanny or night doula. It is exactly what Carrot funds pay for.
Questions we get

No. It is a separate employer benefit. Usually no referral, no copay, no deductible.

Your employer sets that. Your benefit guide has the number.
How long does reimbursement take?
Usually a few weeks after a complete submission.
What if my plan does not cover doula care?
Ask about HSA or FSA funds, and ask us about package pricing. We will find something that works.
